Learn all about the Salinas Valley agriculture industry, otherwise known as the "Salad Bowl of the World.” Observe and discuss fresh vegetable production (land preparation, irrigation, planting, insect and disease control, and harvesting) with a focus on artichokes. Common crops that we also see on tour are lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, Brussels sprouts, and strawberries. We also discuss vegetable gardening tips, packing, and cooking artichokes. The walking tour ends with a complimentary tasting of either an artichoke cupcake or deep-fried artichoke hearts. There is also free time for shopping in the Pezzini store. This walking tour covers approximately 0.2 miles with no hills and restrooms are easily available.

This walking tour features the Presidio, San Carlos Cathedral, Customs House, Fisherman’s Wharf, Colton Hall, Cooper-Molera Adobe, and the Stevenson Hotel. We also discuss current points of interest like Alvarado Street, Defense Language Institute, MIIS, local restaurants, and bars. This walking tour covers approximately 2.4 miles with one small hill and a brief stop halfway through for restrooms and/or drinks.
